We start out by conducting team assessments to identify the physical factors limiting performance and contributing to injury risk. These findings are used to design custom training programs tailored to your team’s specific needs. We are proud to announce that SPARK recently became a SOVA affiliate gym. SOVA STANDOUTS classes are being subsidized by Special Olympics Virginia through December 4, 2025. That's right, they're FREE for the time being!

We look forward to making these classes one of our permanent offerings. Whether you're just looking to try out a class, or you're ready to commit to something longer-term, we have a package designed for athletes 14+! Classes currently on Thursdays at 5pm. Class date/time will change in 2026.

Please note that SOVA STANDOUTS is an all-ability inclusive class.

This class is led by an instructor trained in disability sensitivity and aware of adaptive measures to ensure meaningful participation.

 

Participant Expectations

Follow Directions: Participants should be able to follow one-step directions with minimal or no prompting. SPARK cannot provide ongoing 1-on-1 support during group sessions. However, a chaperone may attend at no cost if their role is solely to assist the participant (permission required before registration).  If the chaperone also participates in the workout using equipment, standard class fees apply.

Maintain Self-Control: Participants must be able to control their bodies to ensure the safety of themselves and others. SPARK maintains a zero tolerance policy for violence of any kind.

Sports Team Performance Assessments (Step 1)

A comprehensive evaluation of your team’s physical performance, movement quality, and injury risk.

This is a structured performance assessment designed for coaches who want clear, objective insight into how their athletes move, perform, and handle the physical demands of their sport.

Most teams operate with limited visibility into the actual physical factors influencing performance and injury risk. This assessment is designed to remove that uncertainty by evaluating key performance qualities through a sport-specific lens.

You receive a clear breakdown of where your team currently stands physically, what strengths are present, and where limitations exist that may be affecting performance or durability.

This is an evaluation process rather than a training intervention or long-term development plan. Its purpose is to provide clarity on current performance status so coaches can make informed decisions about next steps.

The goal is to give coaches a clear, objective understanding of their team’s current physical performance profile so they can make informed decisions about training direction and athlete development.

What We Evaluate:

  • Sprint speed and acceleration mechanics

  • Change of direction and deceleration ability

  • Strength expression and force production patterns

  • Movement efficiency under sport-specific demands

  • Coordination, balance, and control under load

  • Indicators of injury risk based on movement quality and loading patterns

Structured strength and conditioning built specifically for your team’s sport, schedule, and competitive season.

This is a fully customized training system designed to integrate directly into your team’s calendar.

Instead of one-off sessions or generic workouts, we build a progressive performance plan tailored to your athletes, your sport demands, and your competitive timeline.

Programming is designed to improve performance while reducing injury risk over the course of a season—not just create short-term fatigue.

All programming is designed to be implementable within real team constraints, including practice schedules, travel demands, and in-season load management.

The goal is not just to train athletes harder, but to build a system that produces stronger, faster, more resilient teams over time.
